1. Characterize Sylvia Guerrero as to her attitude and behavior. Does she have a
clear set of values? Justify your answer.

Sylvia Guerrero is family-oriented, determined, and considerate. Family-oriented

because she doesnt want to lose her time to her family and she always thinks of her
children, especially her youngest who is 1 years old that moment. Determined
because she pushes what she thinks is right to do and considers each and every detail
of her decision from general to particulars. Considerate for she always wanted to treat
each and every one fairly, she doesnt want to have an advantage of her husband whom
she thought of being insecure of her position, salary, and achievements. This is a clear
picture that shows Sylvia as a good wife, mother and a worker. Sylvia is fixed with her
decisions and is triumphant with what she does. For me, she is an icon.

2. What is Sylvias problem? How would it be resolved by management?

Sylvia doesnt have one problem alone. She has many to be enumerated. First, she got
bored with her job, she is not happy anymore. Second, Tony (her husband) is getting
insecure with what she has. Her boss, Joe, had also noticed her consistent
disappearance in the office, if she was not late; she was sometimes not around during
lunch break. Another thing is that the consultant was also not in good terms with her.
She also felt that her skills and abilities were not recognized by their group because all
they know was that she was just an analyst and all she can do is to analyze data they
obtain. Well, she was actually not afraid of losing her job after all. Her husband is
earning enough to support them. For her, money is not everything but that is all about
what she got from the company.

3. What is the problem of the organization? How could it be resolved?

Lately, the organization was faced to a particular problem and that was the imminence
of company-wide retrenchment program. This was in-lined with the objective of the
company to be cost efficient. There will be no harm for those performing workers
because the decisions were based on efficiency, on merit rating. It could be resolved by
devising an effective plan to resolve such problem; effective plan where they should not
sacrifice the welfare any of the companys/organizations branches; a plan where
everybody is involved; an instrument to improve the organization and not to debunk it.
