Monday Peer Observation (Reflection) 6/March/2017

Teaching is a wonderful job, and every semester I develop my skills. In this year, my
teacher Antoinette teaches me how I can assess the teacher when she teaches. So, I have an
application that includes a standard that I should look for when I evaluate the teacher. So,
you should for me to assess the teacher in five things (curriculum, instruction, learner,
classroom environment).

I have in my classroom one student called Meera, she has studied in Higher College of
Technology, and she still in year 2 level 3. This year is the first year for her in teaching
because the last year only she sit and observe the students. I sit with her, and I told her that
I would observe you when you teach and I will assess you using this paper and I give her a
copy of my paper. She told me that on Monday she would teach a math lesson and a
number from 30 to 40.

Next day she prepares her material and activities and she ready to teach, but she doesnt
prepare her lesson plan. I shocked, and I advise her about the important of preparing the
lesson plan before starting the lesson. She listens to my advice, and she said next time I
would prepare my lesson plan before the lesson and give to my MST.

First, she sits in circle time to identify to the students the number from 30 to 40. She let
them jump from 1 to 40 to develop the cognitive and physical domains. Also, teach them
how they can write the number 31, 32, 33, 3439. She let all students write the number
on the floor or whiteboard. She uses a software by putting video to the students to let them
engaged. Also, she asks a question to determine the student's prior knowledge.

Also, she prepares the activity for three groups, and she explains the activity in circle
time. Moreover, when she let them move to the group, she doesn't make the transition to
them, and the class was noisy at that time. She let them do the activity in the group and she
uses some hands-on activities. Also, she gives them a direction when they do the activities.
She teaches them in a different way such whole group, small group. The students learn to
participate in grouping time by sharing glue, scissors, and clay.

I observe that some students busy with another thing because they dont understand
what they should do in activities so I advise the teacher to observe all students in grouping
area and make them busy with activities to develop their skill. Also, the teacher should be
professional when she teaches the students and dont behave like a child with them. I sit

with Meera and I gives her my feedback, and she respects my advice and listens only
without any comment because she wants to learn.
