Spring 2017
Rationale:
Our world is made up of a variety of shapes and space. By learning and familiarizing
ourselves with types of lines, shapes (2D and 3D), points, students improve their logic, problem-
solving, and deductive reasoning skills.
In this unit, we will be discovering what skills are necessary in order to become a
successful architect. This includes learning how to make a blueprint of their design, the
importance of learning and solidifying their knowledge of shapes, then carefully designing their
model so it fits the given requirements. The activities in this unit also contains real-life
examples which will eventually help scaffold students learning and guide them to their final
performance task: creating a model of their Charmed Playhouse. If scheduling can be figured
out, the mayor will stop by the classroom to inspect their final product.
