1. Sometimes the microphone was malfunctioning.
2. Frequently the lecturer had problems with the microphone but she did a good job of projecting
and getting problems fixed.
3. Very responsive to all students.
4. While I like the room very much, it is harder to hear at the back, and the audio equipment is not
particularly good.

# Response
1. Quality of the lecturer and her knowledge of the subject matter and beyond.
2. Learned a lot about the Bloomsbury Group.
3. The lecturer took into account everyone's comments and participants felt free to discuss with
humour and to share their own knowledge. A pleasure to be there!
4. Scholarly material, presented in a very accessible manner.
5. The material covered was well presented, and organized. Appreciated the website and easy
access to material. The interaction of the class was extraordinary, and the cohesiveness of the
group was a unique and most satisfying.
6. Knowledge of the lecturer.
7. Got me to read books like A Room of One's Own which I had previously started and not finished.
Marieke gave me a totally new approach to reading it. Great class.
8. The amount of reading was just right. The choice of materials was very interesting. Excellent
discussions.
9. I enjoyed the multidisciplinary approach. Having deliberately avoided studying English at
university, I enjoyed the literature discussions very much. It's interesting to pick up aspects of a
work that totally went over my head.
10. Her enthusiasm and willingness to engage with participants. Knew her 'stuff' and how to present
it.
11. The refreshing of my tired old brain.
12. The lecturer, while rather young, demonstrated considerable skill at leading and facilitating
discussion, and she has a very nice way of picking up and summarizing points made by others in
an enthusiastic way.
13. Dr. Kalkhove was very well prepared each class and her knowledge of and enthusiasm for her
subject matter was impressive. She made each class both interesting and enjoyable.
14. I really liked her website where we could get the class notes, multimedia and contact info.

# Response
1. Nothing.
2. It ended to soon.
3. At the first lecture, perhaps very opinionated participants could have been discouraged
somewhat. But it all worked out so well.
4. Occasional slides presented in typefaces not well enough contrasted with background.
5. That it ended!!!
6. Nothing.
7. First few classes one man kept shouting out comments while others raised their hands to speak.
I would have liked the lecturer to have managed that situation quicker but one student spoke
up and then the lecturer eventually got the message to him a bit.
8. The speaking style of the prof was a bit colloquial. The use of the word right? after many points
is not necessary.
9. Nothing.
10. Nada.
11. Nothing in particular, although I would have liked it to be twice as long!
12. I would have liked to have discussed more of the women's liberation issues of that time.
