summativeassessmentconsistingof20questionsfromthroughouttheunit.The
fillintheblankportionofthetexthadawordbankatthetop.Forthepurposeofthis
assignment,Ifocusedonthosetenquestionsthatweregivenonthepreassessment.
Overall,thestudentsaveragedbetweenmissing01questions.Thelowestscoreonthe
testwasfromonestudentwhogot70%.Iwaspleasedtoseehowwelltheyunderstood
thematerial.
Outofthe27studentswhotookthistest,19ofthemgotalloftheanswers
correct.Sixofthestudentsonlymissedonequestion.Twoofthestudentsmissedtwo
questions,withalowscoreof80%.Thesestudentsbothmissedthesametwo
questions,confusingwhetherblackorwhiteabsorbedorreflectedlight.Eachother
questionthatstudentsmissed(5,7,and10)weremissedexactlytwice,withno
perceptiblepattern.Everystudentcorrectedtheirowntestandwasallowedto
selfcorrecttheiranswersforabetterscore.WhenItalkedtoeachstudentindividually,
theyseemedtounderstandwhytheygottheanswerwrong.Forthosewhodidnt,Iwas
abletoreteachthematerial.
