Research Proposal: Job Satisfaction of the Employees of IFIC Bank

SUBJECT: Proposal to do research on job satisfaction of the employees of IFIC Bank.

Problem definition:

All over the world, it is simply realized that the job satisfaction reflects that an employee
feels about his job. Most people in employment experience a degree of satisfaction or
dissatisfaction with their job. Moreover, they tend to be more satisfied with some aspects of
their job than the others. Job satisfaction is very important because it is directly or indirectly
involved with personal and organizational well-being. Happy workers are more likely to be
productive workers. Organizations with more satisfied employees tend to be more effective
than organizations with fewer satisfied employees. Satisfied employees increase customer
satisfaction and loyalty because employees are more likely to be friendly, upbeat and
responsive- which customers appreciate. In this research I will not focus on which factors
contribute on job satisfaction, but rather discovering out the level of job satisfaction of the
employees of IFIC bank. I intend to find answers to such questions through my research
work.

Objective of the research:

The objective of the research encompasses broad and specific objectives. These are given
below:-

Broad Objective: The broad objective of the term paper is to analyze the Job Satisfaction of
the employees of IFIC Bank Ltd.

Specific Objective: Specific objectives of study are as follows

To identify the factors those influence the job satisfaction of employees of IFIC Bank.
To analyze job satisfaction of the mid level managers, the grade I officers and the
branch manager of IFIC bank
To know about the factors those are functioning as the reasons of job satisfaction
demonstrated by the employees
To identify the problems faced by the employees of IFIC Bank and
To provide recommendations regarding those problems.

Research question:

Through my research I am aiming to explore the level of job satisfaction of IFIC Bank
Limited. Through my research I hope to answer the following questions

What are the factors that determine the satisfaction level of employees of IFIC Bank?
Are there any special factors that help to create job satisfaction especially for the
employees of banking sector?
What contributes most to the employees job satisfaction?
What adjustments should be done to improve job satisfaction?
What are the consequences of the job dissatisfaction?

Hypothesis:

Hypothesis of my research are given below-

H1: There is a positive relationship between job satisfaction and employees loyalty.

H2: Satisfaction with the workplace environment has positive impact on job satisfaction.

H3: Job satisfaction is negatively related to employees intentions to leave the organization.

H4: Employee Empowerment has positive impact on job satisfaction.

H5: There is a negative relationship between employee empowerment and turnover intention.

H6: The job satisfaction positively affects the employees job performance.

H7: Job Performance has a negative impact on employees intentions to leave the
organization.

Research Methodology:

For my primary research I would like to conduct a survey on a representative sampling of the
employees of IFIC Bank. I prepared questionnaires, which contain some basic questions
opting answers for required information. In order to gather data for understanding job
satisfaction, a sample of 30 respondents will ask to take part in a self-administered
questionnaire. Employees of banking sector wont give much time and my time duration of
this research is limited so sample size is not so high here. I arranged face-to-face interviews
with Mr. Ekram Elahi, the manager of the organization.

For my secondary research I plan to use the website of IFIC Bank and also browse the
internet and use standard search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Organization:

My paper will be divided into several sections, the most important of which are the
Introduction, Background, Data Presentation and Analysis, Summary of Findings and
Recommendations. Within the sections my organization will be based on my research
questions and hypothesis of the chosen topic.

Timetable:
I plan to complete my primary research by first two days and my secondary research by 3 rd
day. I shall complete writing the final draft of my research paper before 6 th day and submit it
by the specified deadline towards 7th day.

Request for approval:

I hereby request your approval for my research proposal. If you wish me to modify or
improve my proposal, I will resubmit it after incorporating the necessary changes. I would
also be very grateful for your suggestion and assistance in conducting my research and
completing the project.

Limitation:

This research paper has several limitations. First, because of time constraint this study
considered only few factors of job satisfaction like job performance, employee
empowerment, job loyalty, turnover intention and work place environment. Secondly, the
sample size of the study is small which should be increased in order to understand the most
important determinants at more generalized level. Thirdly, the data is collected from a
particular group of people. Fourthly, the employees of IFIC Bank were not permitted to
provide any negative information about their company. In future, the light should shed on
other variables like reward and recognition, training and development, and organizational
commitment which need to be discussed for further understanding of job satisfaction.
