SeaPlanner Supports 80% of DONG

Energys UK Offshore Portfolio

SeaPlanners work with DONG Energy dates back to 2008, when the system was selected to support the
Gunfleet Sands project this was SeaPlanners debut to the offshore wind industry. Over the years DONG
Energy has continued to use the SeaPlanner system to support construction of its other UK projects,
Walney 1 and 2, West of Duddon Sands and Westermost Rough.

In January 2016, DONG Energy went on to announce SeaPlanner as the system provider for its centralised
Marine and Helicopter Coordination Centre (MHCC) for its UK offshore wind farm construction projects, utilising
the latest portfolio functionality of the system. To date, SeaPlanner has supported over 80% of DONG Energys
UK Offshore wind projects.

The MHCC project sets out to centralise, standardise, automate and make equipment easily deployable to
support far offshore projects, saving cost and ensuring safety from day one for the people working offshore.
SeaPlanner is providing DONG Energy with a personnel and certification management system, vessel and
helicopter tracking, communication dispatchers and site wide communications infrastructure (including Tetra,
VHF marine, VHF airband and Satellite communications). These systems are needed to safely operate multiple
offshore construction sites from a central location.

The MHCC includes SeaPlanner hardware and software combined to fulfil the following
primary purposes:

Offshore management system enabling centralised and regional control over the
individual offshore sites simultaneously from standardised workstations.

Enable marine, helicopter and personnel coordination across all sites.

Enable voice communication between personnel offshore, vessels, helicopters and a

central coordination centre across sites.

Manage people, vessels, helicopters and personnel transfer to and from sites based on
transport requirements and access rights.

Provide communication and sensor platforms on multiple sites for central situational
awareness and radio communication.

Support a satellite and Tetra communication based Crew Transport Terminal on vessels
and at helipads for automatic people location tracking and text messaging.

The solution includes deployment of a number of SeaPlanners SeaHub units. These self-contained,
unmanned, mobile data platforms house all the required equipment to enable reliable communications and
logistical data sharing for far offshore projects. SeaHub is based on an 8 foot DNV certified container and is
suitable for a variety of deployment locations. These containerised communication hubs incorporate VHF
radio, Tetra UHF, Crewfinder Man-Overboard detection, AIS receiver (vessel tracking) and ADS-B receiver
(aircraft tracking). The received signals are combined and transmitted back to shore via satellite link, thereby
extending the range for viable communications to locations far from conventional land based transmitters.
The SeaHub containers also incorporate several self-contained and automated safety systems including fire
suppression, gas detection, climate control and an
uninterruptable power supply to continue operation in the
event of external power loss all of which can be monitored
from the SeaPlanner software.

What is so unique and beneficial about this solution is that it

is entirely mobile, meaning that communications and logisti-
cal data can cover a radius of up to 20 miles from wherever the container is installed, be that on board a guard
vessel, on an offshore platform or at remote land-based locations. An additional benefit to this system is that it
may be reused, either deployed at a fixed location, such as on the offshore substation once it is grid connected,
to provide the permanent communications solution for the site, or on the next construction project.
