Lesson Outline(After reading)

1.Lets to turn to page 9. This sentence

says This made me so cross that I
started shouting at them!
I know that cross can mean a shape, but
do you think that is what the character
means? (no) Right, she means something
different. We can use the sentence to
help us understand the meaning of this
word. What do you think? (she is angry
because she is shouting at them for
killing the deer). Right! We can use the
sentence to help us figure out the
meaning of words we dont know. We
know based on the sentence that cross
means angry.

2.Lets try another one. Turn to page 25.

This sentence says Mama! Mama!
Mama! chirruped Philip. Look, Mama,
we can fly! chirruped is how something
is being said, like when we say
something angrily or happily. How do you
think the boys are speaking? (happily)
why do you think that? (Because they
grew wings and can fly now). Right! They
are probably pretty excited so when they
speak, they would say it happily or in a
high pitched way.

3.Repeat for the rest of the unknown

words. Use prompting as needed.
