Reflection of entry point chapter 8 2

3. The role of faith in science

4. Using biblical beliefs to understand science

5. Science- a human calling

6. Using science to illustrate biblical beliefs.

In Aims of science teaching the authors have revealed to the readers the aims of Christian

Science teachers. As Christian teachers teaches science, they have a big role to point out the fact

that God is the source of all things. As science is the most contradicting subject for Christian

worldview as it conveys the meanings of lives works by nature and humans creations (which

leads the careless readers to stumble their faith to God). They have to remind the students that

God is the one who makes all thing possible even when they cannot see the mentioning of God in

all of their lessons.

In The nature of science several points are given out.

2.1 Misconception and Assumption (the authors provided a classroom activity that makes

the students aware of their assumptions/misconceptions on Science.)

2.2 Interpretation of scientific data (the authors provided a classroom activity that makes

the students aware that presuppositions and assumptions influence the interpretation of data.)

2.3 Different kinds of knowledge (the authors provided questions that makes the readers

aware that science is sometimes not the most useful kind of knowledge.)

2.4 Alerting students to reductionism

2.5 Understanding the interdependence of creation (everything in this world relies to one

another.)

In The role of faith in science the authors provided several points

3.1 Intelligent design (all creations direct the science back to God)

3.2 The world is knowable (Another basic assumption is that the world is knowable.

Without this basic premise there would be no point in attempting science, since its aim is to

know and understand the world around us.)

3.3 Other main assumptions

3.4 Founded on faith (The scientists who found great things have an incredible amount of

faith in God- if not in God then in what they are doing.)

In Using biblical beliefs to understand science the authors mentioned Author Jones statement

Whatever our context, our calling as Christian teachers of science is to subvert and undermine

these idolatries by incorporating into our teaching a much richer vision of reality that refuses to

sever the Biblical link between knowledge, character and use.

In Science a human calling the authors claimed that Scientists and their work are

answerable to God and are both responsible to and affected by the other aspects of human life.

They also provided mini points which encourages the readers to be responsible in the ways of

using science, to steward the gifts God gave us through nature, and by using biographies.

In Using science to illustrate biblical beliefs the authors provided points that will help the

students to see God in the creation by letting them reflect on the conservation of Mass and the

existence of air as an assembly on faith.

Reflection: I used to be burdened to show God in the works of science. However, I am

encouraged after reading this because I myself can see Gods hand and His glory throughout the

text. As a primary teacher, I finally know how to use the creations to point to the Creator. I am

deeply moved and humbled.
