As the students who participate in this coursework we would interest to express our gratitude
to everyone that involved rather directly or indirectly in helping us to complete this
assignment. Firstly, we really appreciate all the helps, advises and information which given
by our lecturer and also our supervisor En Akmal bin Ismail and En Mohamad Faizal Reza
bin Yaacob. Without their support, we may not be able to face and solve the difficulties that
we encounter during the process until we produce this project successfully.
In addition, we would like to take this opportunity to thanks those of our friend who helped
us and giving some ideal to us in order to complete this coursework. Besides, we also grateful
to our seniors who kindly to guide us, give us suggestion and knowledge to do this
coursework.
Last but not least, thousands of thanks we would like to express to our group members
Amirul Hafiz bin Mizan, Zulfa Nadhzirah binti Iskandaradly, Nur Diyanah Khairunnisa binti
Razman and the last one Muhammad Farhan Abid bin Fahkrul Azman for the cooperation
given to the group. We know that without cooperation and tolerance between the group
members, we couldnt finish this coursework perfectly. Finally, I would like to thank again to
anyone who had helped us and guided us in order to complete this coursework.
Introduction
Cat lovers must always have a problem with their cat litter box. As we know the cat
owner sometimes get no times to scoop the cat litter, changing the cat sand and throwing the
poops away. As our knowledge, the cat litter box is in a manual method which we need an
energy from human to throw up the cat litter. When using a human effort, it was such a
wasting time since we need almost a half an hour to clean up the cat litter which we need to
work on a few process.
Therefore, we decided to innovate this creation into an automatic method which we
combine the mechanical part, electrical and electronic component. We use driver motor,
motor stepper and gear which are working as rotating or moving the cat litter box. Our main
purpose using this element to the innovation is to separate between cat sand and the cat litter.
We can see that separating this part (sand and cat litter) will help us minimise the cost of
buying the sand and also giving an advantage where we can reuse the cat sand as long as the
sand would not give a harmful disease to the cat.
Besides that, we adding a motion sensor which working as a detector. When the cat is
`````entering the litter box and left their litter, after the cat leaving we setting up the timer, so
that the cat litter box can perfectly move and do its work by that have.
As the conclusion, this cat litter box is really helpful to kind of people that loves an
exotic cat. We let the cat litter box work by itself (automatic) as we want to program it. We
just need one step of human effort to take out the litter which has drop into the drawer at the
bottom of cat litter box and throw it away. After all, our work in manage the cat litter box is
done.
Our top target is all the cat owner can own this cat litter box as the price is affordable
and we giving the title of our project, a POLY-CAT LITTER BOX.
Abstract
Cat is the most valuable animal all of the universe. Many people love cat because they are
adorable and sweet. They could get melt with just looking into the cat eyes, now they love us
to stroke their head. Most of the cat lovers are women because they easily get melted with
something lovely especially with their fur. It is so lovely if they taking good care of.
So with all the phenomenon, we have got an idea to produce a product that can help the
owner instead our both supervisor of project are cat lovers. We named our product as Poly-
Cat Litter Box. The product is an automatic product that can help a lot for the cat owner.
Sometimes the cat owner, get tired after comeback home from work then they will easily get
mad as they look there is pooped at surrounding and produce bad smell. So thats why we
came an idea for the cat litter box.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of our project is :
1. To fabricate an automatic Cat Litter Box.
2. To reduce the cost in owning an automatic Cat Litter Box for exotic cat owner.
Problem Statement
When dealing with animal habitat or behaviour that we use to keep as pet, there must be some
problem that we have to overcame to make sure that the animal is pleasure with it new place.
First of all, things that we have to overcome is the design of the litter box and the materials
that we are going to use.
We have to create a design that will make the cat feel pleased. Then the cleanliness of the
litter box need to be taken care to in order to prevent the sickness. The factor that are related
to the cleanliness is the material that we are going to use for this litter box. We have to use the
material that are not going to affect with the cat litter.
For the material, first of all we planned to use polypropylene plastic. But because of the
physical of that materials we hardly to cut the plastic by parts. So we overcome our problem
with use another materials of plastic which is Perspex. It is much easier to make the materials
cut by parts. Of course there are some difficulties to cut the materials but it is less than the
polypropylene materials.
Methodology
Stage 1
Study of design for product and list needs, equipment or material needed.
1. Sketching the design in 2Dard 3D using sketching software such as solid
work/solid/autocad
2. List all the equipment that are needed for the product and make estimation
budget needed.
Stage 2
List the processed that involved in the project and gathered all the equipment
1. Schedule the project progress week by week that needed to follow
2. Gather all the equipment that had been bought and check whether it exceed
the estimation budget
3. Distribute the task among the group members

Stage 3
Apply appropriate methodology
1. Implement the selected design or case study
2. Apply relevant principle based on existing knowledge
3. Describe the objective of the methodology

Method that involved


The perspex need to be measure before cut it by part.
The stepper motor and the driver motor will be install after the body structure is
complete.
The to move the body of product part a programming need to be install in the PIC
16F877A.
Use the power supply to operate the product.
Scope of Project
This project using the integrated circuit type of PIC16F877A which is the one of the main
hardware needed to be combine to make part of the product successful. Stepper motor 2
phase- 4 wires has been added to make the part of the product move or rotate at the degree we
already permanent it. L298N motor driver is to take a low-current control signal and then turn
it into a higher-current signal that can drive a motor and also related electronic circuits.
This project will use following main hardware:
PIC 16877A
STEPPER MOTOR (2 PHASE- 4 WIRES)
MOTOR DRIVER (L298N)
RESISTOR
40 PIN 1C SOCKET
PINION GEAR (6.35mm)
