WELCOME
Thank you for being here on this beautiful
Easter morning! We are excited to be with
our city celebrating Gods love, hope & life.
THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS on Easter morning is creations chance to
correct whats wrong with the world. After the beautiful events of creation,
things fell radically. A crippling and contagious brokenness enters the world,
which we see evidenced in our newsfeeds, in our relationships, and even in
our own hearts.

Yet Gods story doesnt end with brokenness. He has continued to provide
a common grace for the common good: flowers still bloom, babies still
smile, miracles still happen. As the world often reminds us, however, that is
not enough: we needed a firm and final restoration to brokenness. So God
comes to us, as Jesus. He teaches and seeks reform in such a radical way
that he is tortured and executed on a cross.

And Easter is the turning point in the story. Through Jesus resurrection, a
new humanity is born! And now, the story continues, and we each have a
place in it. All because of Easter morning.

I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that
people often say about Him: Im ready to accept Jesus as a great moral
teacher, but I dont accept his claim to be God.That is the one thing we
must not say.

A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said
would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on
the level with the man who says he is a poached egg or else he would
be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and
is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut
him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can
fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any
patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not
left that open to us. He did not intend to.

THE LORDS PRAYER Albert Malotte
Sung with Congregation

Our Father, which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts
As we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom,
And the power and the glory
Forever. Amen.

SONG OF WORSHIP O Praise the Name
Marty Sampson, Benjamin Hastings, and Dan Ussher, Dan Galbraith
Wil Brown, Genesis Band, Chancel Choir, Orchestra
Sung with Congregation

I cast my mind to Calvary

Where Jesus bled and died for me
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet
My Savior on that cursed tree

His body bound and drenched in tears

They laid Him down in Josephs tomb
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone

O praise the Name of the Lord our God

O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God

12
Then on the third at break of dawn
The Son of heaven rose again
O trampled death where is your sting
The angels roar for Christ the King

O praise the Name of the Lord our God

O praise His Name forevermore
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord, our God

He shall return in robes of white

The blazing sun shall pierce the night
And I will rise among the saints
My gaze transfixed on Jesus face

THE NICENE CREED

O Praise the Name (continued)

Sung with Congregation

O praise His Name forevermore

HYMN
The Holy City
Adolphe Adam
John Easterlin, Chancel Choir, and Orchestra

Last night I lay a-sleeping, there came a dream so fair,

I stood in old Jerusalem, beside the temple there,
I heard the children singing, and ever as they sang,
Methought the voice of angels, from heavn in answer rang.
Methought the voice of angels, from heavn in answer rang.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, lift up your gates and sing,

Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna to your King!

And then methought my dream was changed,

the streets no longer rang,
Hushed were the glad Hosannas the little children sang,
The sun grew dark with mystery, the morn was cold and chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill,
As the shadow of a cross arose upon a lonely hill,

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Hark! how the angels sing,

Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna to your King!

And once again the scene was changed,

new earth there seemed to be,
I saw the Holy City beside the tideless sea,
The light of God was on its streets, the gates were open wide,
And all who would might enter, and no one was denied.
No need of moon or stars by night, Or sun to shine by day,
It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away,
It was the new Jerusalem that would not pass away.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Sing for the night is oer!
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna forever more!
Hosanna in the highest, Hosanna forevermore!
