Software Integration Planning Sheet

By integrating Educational Software into the curriculum, we take one step closer to meeting the
needs of ALL of our digital students. By giving them the opportunity to learn and explore using
multimedia software they become more focused, engaged and motivated. In this project, you
will select a grade level, subject area and Common Core Standard to begin the process of using
the software in order to more effectively help ALL of your students create an academic product
showcasing their understanding of the concept you are teaching.

1. Begin planning
a. Grade level: 6-8th grade
b. Topic/Subject Area: Digital art. Social issues
c. Common Core Standard: VA.68.F.1.4: Use technology skills to create an
imaginative and unique work of art. VA.68.H.1.1: Describe social, ecological,
economic, religious, and/or political conditions reflected in works of art.
d. Select your Software Browse the internet for software that supports the Common
Core Standard you selected for the general population of your students.
i. Software/APP/Website Game: Psykopaint Apple app- Insanely awesome
painting experience. www.psykopaint.com/ The best painting experience.
That's the description.
ii. How does this software support the Common Core Standard you
selected?: This software provides a platform for students to create digital
art for free on any apple device. They can edit photos or create works of
their own. With their knowledge of touchscreen technology they will be
creating works that depict/represent some sort of social issue such as
bullying, world hunger, or depression.
2. Now make them apply what they have learned: Think about the experience your
students will have with the software you selected. After the students interact with the
software you selected, come up with an activity using one of the Microsoft Office Suite
programs that forces your students to apply what they have learned using the software
you selected. Try to force them to create something that utilizes critical thinking skills.
a. What Office program will your students use?: Microsoft PowerPoint
b. What will your students create or do with that program?: Students will
present their pieces to the class along with background/ an explanation of their
social issue and how their piece represents/ portrays the issue through
PowerPoint. They will include their reference photos if any, what tools/brushes
they used, and share why they chose their particular issue.

3. How will you measure their mastery of the skill you had in mind?
1 2 3 4 5 Total:
Craftsmanship- Is the
student's work complete?

their issue?
Composition and Design-
Did the student plan
their work according to
their social issue? Does it
portray what the student
was trying to portray?
Media- Did the student
make full use of their
tools? Does their

Total: /25

4. Show me an example
a. Create an example of what you want your students to create. Attach it to this page
along with your rubric.

5. Decide which tech standards you met as a teacher and your students met as digital
learners:
a. NETS-T Standard: 6 Creative Communicator- Students communicate clearly
and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms,
tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals.
i. NETS-S Standard: 6b) Students create original works or responsibly
repurpose or remix digital resources into new creations. 6c) Students
