Observation Notes: -Amanda, you did a great job again today! You were very well prepared and used the reading materials very well. I like your format! Took your time to get your group settled. You asked some connection review questions, read the story as a group inserting questions along the way, wound lesson up with a quick ending review! - physical setting promoted good teaching- small group, in a semi circle, didnt make a big deal out of one student wanting a seat change. You were facing each student and could help them keep their place and focus on the task. Love the put your finger on the place where we will start reading -you reminded students about basket of stamps, bubble space good! sdflkjlkj - you gave an appropriate amount of space to Shamarcus (sp?) giving her an indirect out from answering questions immediately but still coming back to her and giving her more chances to join -group response is important! Repeat after meobserve, parent, wild - wild animals versus tame animals- made connections to student interest -prepared questions- which seal is the parent? How is the mama different? how did the monkey get up there? - modeled I want to read this book! Good readers read again and again!!!! Very important for them to hear again and again! - Asked follow up questions- would these animals make good pets? - gave reward for good behavior- stamps on Bingo cards
Observation Suggestions -model good reading for themcould read story to them first and let them just listenwork on expression and phrasing and pausing - could have special seat ready for them for reading group.youre in blue chair today, youre in the dog chair todaylittle picture on back of chairmake it gamey..might be positive way to begin???? -Read, read, read to them!!! Fun stories, stories that include participation-words and motions, connect to their lives. A love of reading is a real gift that you can give them!
Thanks for letting me observe today. Loved seeing your interactions with students- very positive- yet requiring good school behavior Thanks for asking me to read to your class- very fun for me! Have a great week and even greater spring break! Say hi to Jackie for me!!! JS
