Course Description
The focus of this course is on leadership within professional communities of practice. With an opportunity to specialize, students will further
their capabilities as future leaders in interprofessional community practice. Through reflective classroom experiences students will critically
evaluate the contribution of community based research in supporting the development of healthy, engaged citizens. Students will be
challenged to become engaged citizens, support engagement in their communities and advocate for changes to social policy. Student
learning will continue to be chronicled through the professional portfolio.

Course Outcomes
Successful completion of this course will enable the student to:
1. Critique community based research evidence
2. Critique social policies that influence polices, practices, and programs in community based settings
3. Propose professional recommendations to policies, practices and programs
4. Demonstrate personal awareness and ones own ability to influence change that supports inclusion, social justice, equity and diversity
5. Propose a community based project supports the values inclusion, social justice, equity and diversity
6. Act in a manner consistent with professional ethical practice
7. Demonstrate professional leadership in community practice
8. Assess ones own personal knowledge and performance of professional learning and engagement
9. Utilize appropriate technology to deliver a visual and oral presentation

3.3 Evaluate the role of the professional in research for the purpose of influencing change to programs, policies and/or practices in
community settings
3.4 Evaluate the value of contributing to community research as a future leader in the field of early learning program developmen
4.0 Engage in Reflective Practice
4.1 Integrate the use of various tools to engage in pedagogical thinking (e.g. documentation, journals and reflections, critical
literacy) for the purpose of enriching professional learning
4.2 Analyze current knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities in the context of community based practice
4.3 Analyze emotions, professional experiences, and responses to add to existing knowledge for the purpsose of reaching a higher
level of understanding
4.4 Appraise feedback to develop and reflect on consolidating one's professional practice capabilities
