Leadership Considerations: 1. When working with participants who have spina bifida, the specialist should consider the participants gait and mobility level. Participants who have spina bifida can sometimes suffer from poor standing endurance and balance. Wheelchairs should be provided or seating options to allow the participant to sit while conducting the activity. People who have spina bifida also have weak muscle strength and range of motion. Having assistance to help guide the activity and to assist participants to roll the ball, can ensure the participants is getting full benefits from the activity. 2. When working with participants with down syndrome, vision impairments can hinder them from participating in the activity. A couple of things that can be adapted is moving the bottles closer and in range for them to strike. Another consideration is the color of the ball, using bright colors can be useful for them to be able to locate the ball. Bowling is a great activity for people with down syndrome it promotes social integration by doing this activity in a group and possibly setting up teams to allow communication.
