BIRD TALES
Last May,
I dedicated myself to
a big month of birding,
going out for at least one
hour a day every day. To
accomplish this, I often
went bird-watching at a

of the month, this brown

The highs matter, too.
Some plants are more heat-tolerant than others.
The American Horticultural Society developed its
Plant Heat Zone Map to help you select the most
ideal plants for your garden. The 12 zones are
based on the average number of days where the
temperature exceeds 86 F, the point where many
plants suffer short- or long-term damage such as

Look for the heat zone map at ahs.org.
