Complete the dialog using How much and How many when appropriate.
Samantha and Betsy are having guests for dinner this evening. After a long discussion, they finally agree
on the appetizer. They are serving a Spanish gazpacho soup.
Sam : So, Betsy, you are the expert. What do we need for the gazpacho soup?
Betsy : Well, we need tomatoes and cucumbers.
Sam : Yes, but tomatoes and cucumbers?
Betsy : Oh, mm, people are we going to be tonight?
Sam : We'll be four, Jeff and Frank, you and me.
Betsy : In that case, we need six medium-sized tomatoes and two large cucumbers.
We also need some water, some olive oil, garlic, some salt and pepper, and some
green bellpeppers.
Sam : Ok, let's go step by step, so water?
Betsy : I would say four cups.
Sam : olive oil?
Betsy : One third of a cup.
Sam : cloves of garlic?
Betsy : I believe two is enough.
Sam : salt and pepper?
Betsy : Just a pinch of salt, and I suggest we put the peppermill on the table.
Sam : And finally bellpeppers?
Betsy : Just one, half for the soup and the other half diced for garnishing. We also need
some bread croutons and some chopped chives as garnishes. Don't forget to peel
and seed the cucumbers and tomatoes. Blend all the ingredients except the
garnishes and chill for at least 3 hours. Meanwhile I'll prepare the pork.
VOCABULARY:
cloves of garlic chives peppermill to garnish : to decorate
NOTE: Try this recipe at home. Serve it on a hot summer day. If you want a thicker soup,
add some bread crumbs.
