SUBJECT: Converting from DDEC III to DDEC IV - Update

We receive numerous calls asking if a DDEC III engine can be converted to, or serviced with a DDEC
IV ECM. In order to determine if this is possible a person must know the current rating group that is
programmed into the existing DDEC III ECM. This can be read from the ECM with any tool (DDR,
DDDL, or DRS), by reading the 6N4D group. Once the DDEC III group is known simply compare
that number to the current listing to see if an equivalent DDEC IV calibration is available. DDC
Distributors can change the mainframe for the unit to allow the engine calibration to be programmed
into the DDEC IV ECM.

If you cannot view the ECM data it can be viewed on the DDC mainframe. A user must establish a
Powernet (IMS) session. This can be done via the DDC Extranet http://192.135.85.10/cust/select.asp

Distributors can upgrade the unit by checking the uprate/derate selection and using the PF5 DDEC
Upgrade and changing the rating to the equivalent DDEC IV version.
