Cisco seeks an enthusiastic and passionate Information Security Engineer to help enforce information

security policies, and drive initiatives to establish world-leading security practices.

The ideal candidate will have exposure to Information Security or supporting engineering development
environments preferably with a security focus. He should also have sound knowledge of LAN and WAN
with exposure to firewalls, DMZ etc. UNIX or windows system administration would be useful.

The ideal candidate will possess sound knowledge in one or more areas covering network security, host
security, risk assessments, policy enforcement and governance. Excellent analytical and communication
skills are required

The role involves building and maintaining relationship with business clients, IT management and various
functional groups within the InfoSec organization. This position will report to an InfoSec manager and
work closely with other global InfoSec functional managers to drive efficiencies in day-to-day operations
and driving projects.

The applicant will also be expected to develop knowledge base and refine processes for case handling,
audit, and investigations.

Key Skills:

1. Networking skills CCNA (Preference would be given CCNA Security and CISSP )
and experience with large enterprises handling information security operations

2. Network security architecture knowledge

3. Knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, PERL).

4. Excellent written & Oral communication skills

Good to have:

1. Systems administration skills (Good understanding of UNIX and windows


environment)

2. Good understanding of Data Center, Virtualization, Cloud, UCS, Multi-tier


deployment environments and their Security operations

3. Knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, PERL).

- The Info-Sec group is the business operations team within Cisco. Its a part of the Security Trust
Organization (STO) .
The STO is the group which addresses all the security related aspects of Cisco globally.
This group provides security framework to its client/users (internal).
Cisco is expanding across its product divisions and their focus being on new product development. This is
a growing team and hence need resources with Info-Sec experience and network Security knowledge.
This is an IC role.

Responsibilities :

- The consultant will be working as an individual contributor to translate firewall rules into Business
rules/frameworks.
The Info-Sec group is divided into 3 categories: Firewall, Extranet, and Labs. The resource will be
working on the Labs Firewall
- The consultant will play a role of an approver of rules for its users working in the lab environment
- He she will be the SPOC for all change requests that are sent by the internal users (employees ) of Cisco

What are the top 3 skills required?

- Top 3 skills:

- Experience on Information Security,


- Min 2-3 years of working experience on enterprise security,
- Strong in Network Fundamentals
ITIL+CISSP+CCNA Certification
- (CISSP is not a mandate - this is just to benchmark the potential candidates). A CCIE,CCNA,
CEH etc would be sufficient
- In Depth understanding of the Network Security Concepts and Firewall policies
- The ideal candidate will possess sound knowledge in one or more areas covering network security,
host security, risk assessments, policy enforcement and
governance. Excellent analytical and communication skills are required

What are the must haves?

- Min 3 years of Firewall Exp, 2-3 years of experience on enterprise security.


- Strong understanding of managing the ACL a layer 3 expertise (L3)
- Good written and Verbal Communication
- - Knowledge of Information Security (in terms of operation)

The resource would be at Cisco Cessna Business Park Blore, ORR Marathahalli.

America. This would be only for 2 hours - between 9:00 PM & 11:00 PM. Basically there would be a 20-
30 min call that the resource would attend, for which he can log-in from home];
- There is an option to work from home once/twice a week (prior approval of manager required) - NOTE :
THIS IS ONLY POST 4-5 MONTHS OF EMPLOYMENT / DATE OF JOINING. Initially the resource is
expected to work from Cessna Office

What is the team structure?


- Overall this is a 350 member group across geographies. In India there are 100 members in the group

How many in the team?


- At present, InfoSec Operations is a 16 member group consisting of Architects, Sr Engineering Mangers,
Program Managers, Leads & engineers. They are headed by a Director of Global info security.

- The candidate will be an IC, and will act as an architect within the group. He will play a role of an
approver of Firewalls rules and translate them into business rules

Good to have :

- Experience on Info-Sec
- Experience in managing ACL (Network Access Control List)
- DevOps knowledge, Scripting experience
