General Information
Description
This semester course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop, implement and maintain
a personal healthy lifestyle for life. Students will learn the importance of lifestyles choices, how to make positive
choices, goal setting, why to be physically active, and the skills necessary to be physically active.

Course Materials
Required Materials
Appropriate PE clothing must comply with school dress code.

Grading and Credit


Participation Points
Students will receive 30 points each day for dress and participation. Any absence from class must be made up to
receive credit (school excused absences will not need made up). If a student is unable to participate or needs
accommodations due to injury or illness, a doctors note explaining the restrictions must be submitted.
5 points on time for roll call (7 minutes after the tardy bell, in roll call line)
10 points dressed for participation
10 points participation in class
5 points second roll call (2 minutes before class ends, in roll call line)

Fitness Testing
Students will participate in fitness testing 3 times during the semester, Pre-test, Midterm and Post-test. Each time 25
point will be awarded. Points will be based on students goals and improvement.

Homework
Out of class assignments will be given to help students personalize their fitness for life plan. Assignments will be worth
10 points each.

Quizzes
Students will be required to complete 6 quizzes during the semester. Quizzes will be based on units covered and be
administered during class. Each quiz will be worth 40 points.

Midterm Test
A midterm test worth 100 points will be given to students covering material from each unit.

Unit Project
The goal of this project is to implement what have learned all semester. Additional information will be given in class.

Grading Scale
100 94 = A 82 80 = B- 69 67 = D+
93 90 = A- 79 77 = C+ 66 63 = D
89 87 = B+ 76 73 = C 62 60 = D-
86 83 = B 72 70 = C- 59 and below = F

Rules and Procedures


Rules
1. Students are expected to be on time, dressed, and in their roll call line within 7 minutes of the tardy bell
ringing.
2. Lockers will be issued at the beginning of the semester. Students will be responsible for proper use of locker
and responsible for their own belongings. Be sure to lock your locker and do not share your combination with
anyone. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Students will be allowed to leave backpacks
in coachs office if needed.
3. Students must change from the clothes worn to school and be dressed in proper PE clothing each day
consisting of:
a. Athletic bottoms (i.e. sweats, basketball shorts, etc.) must be in accordance with school dress code
policy.
b. Athletic T-Shirt no cut-offs, tank tops, etc.
c. Non-marking athletic shoes
d. No excessive jewelry
4. No food or drink is allowed in class personal water bottles are acceptable.
5. Showering is strongly suggested. Please bring your own towel, soap, deodorant, etc.
6. Clothes should be taken home and washed WEEKLY!!
7. No cellphones or other electronics will be allowed in class.
a. First offense deduction of 5 points, confiscation for remainder of period
b. Second offense deduction of 10 points, confiscation sent to administration for remainder of day
c. Third offense deduction of 20 points, confiscation until parent can be contacted and parent-teacher
meeting is scheduled

We hope to be able to introduce students to new ideas of how to be healthy, instill in them the importance of why to
be healthy, and enable them with the capability to be healthy for a lifetime. Please feel free to contact me at any
