Physiology Lesson Plan Assignment

How does the body respond to resistance training?

OBJECTIVE: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe the different
responses of resistance training adaptations.

Instructional Plan:
- Resistance Training: Form of exercise that is essential for overall health and
fitness as well as for athletic performance. Also referred to as weight training or
lifting.
- Brief overview of two resistance training adaptations:
Acute
Chronic
- Acute responses to resistance training primarily from the neurological,
muscular, and endocrine systems.
-Chronic responses to resistance training are seen in the muscular, skeletal,
endocrine, cardiovascular, and neurological systems.

Activity and Assessment:

- Distribute handout(s) with basic summary of Acute and Chronic responses
- Summary includes description of neurological, muscular, endocrine, and skeletal
systems and each of their roles for resistance training.
- Discuss body composition and it relevance to resistance training. Reviewed as
Anthropometric adaptationchronic adaptation to resistance training.
- Administer a brief quiz containing questions covering basic terms and functions
associated with material covered in the presentation

Sample Questions:

- The two resistance training adaptations include?

- Muscular and neurological systems can be seen in both adaptations?

- Is body composition apart of an acute or chronic response?

- What is the response of Anthropometric adaptation?

- How many systems are included for the resistance training adaptations?
