How To Use This Ebook

At the top of each page is the name of a chord such as major, minor, ect. There
will be 12 picture diagrams in all keys of each chord displayed as a 12 pad drum
machine. Anyone who has a MPC 500, MPK 25, MPK 49, or anything in 3x4
grid format can use the following technique. The chords are represented by the
colors of the pads.

1. Gray Pad- represents a note that is in the chord and necessary to

play

2. Yellow Pad- represents the root note or main key of the actual
chord and necessary to play (can also be used as a bass note)

3. White Pad- represents notes that are NOT in the chord and
should not be played unless u want to create your
own chord

Heres an example of a chord which is on

the Major 7th page. This chord would be
called G Major 7. The yellow pad is in the
key of G. The gray pads are also part of this
chord but, the white pads are to be left
alone because they are not in the chord
even though you can play them if you really
want to be adventurous.

Important Note!
Program your drum machine to play notes chromatically from Pad 1 to Pad 12 just
like a piano(see fig.1). For the MPC 500, the easiest and most preferred way to do
this is by using 12 levels. Assign a sampled C note to Pad 1 and follow the charts
below to help place the right notes on the right pads. If you are having trouble
finding a sampled C note, you can download one free from the Free Starter Kit over
at HowToMakeVerySickBeats.com. If you want to use your MPC 500 as a controller
to play sounds from an external source check your manual to find out how to do
this. Now just follow the diagrams on the following pages and have fun!

Fig. 1- This is middle C or in

other terms C3 which is !
recommended so your chords
wont sound muddy.
