Project # 1.Micro Combined Heat & Power

Nationally the crisis of energy is becoming worse with the
each passing day. The shortage and cost of energy is
increasing on regular basis.

One possibility to combat recent energy crisis in the country

is what is known as a co-generation system. In such a
system, fuel is used in conjunction with an internal
combustion engine (ICE) to run a generator to produce
electricity. Typically, internal combustion engines are about
18-20 % efficient and most of the energy is lost as heat
Based on this information it does not seem practical to use
an ICE to generate power, but in the case of single family
homes, , the waste energy and exhaust heat can be
captured to heat the home.
In this project students will design and fabricate an system
for combined heat and power for domestic use.

Project # 2. Vibrational Energy Harvesting

Alternate sources of energy are what the scientist and engineers are always looking
for. One the alternate source of energy is energy obtained from vibrations of different
systems Vibration is natural inevitable phenomena in our daily life, instead of wasting
this energy in damping, efforts are being made for capturing this energy.

In this project students will try to find out practical techniques to harvest energy from
the vibrations.

Introduction
Pressure vessels are the largest components most tools and machinery need in
order to function properly. These containers are purposely made so that gases
and liquids can be safely contained without placing things in danger.

Pressure vessels are designed for industrial use such as in nuclear reactors and in
mining. They are also used in peoples everyday activities like in heating water
and in distillation. They are capable of storing liquefied gases with all safety.
They are useful in storing and disseminating unstable chemicals such as propane,
ammonia, and LPG.

It is important for pressure vessels to be properly designed. Normally, if they fail

in a disastrous condition, vessels release great amount of content and energy.
There are manifold results to happen like high-speed projectiles and a shock wave
on the contents of the vessel. Either result will lead to dangerous consequences.
Storage tanks and pressure vessels can likely fall under some categories, each
having its own threat. Even so, its end result can bring a failure that poses
protection risk to employees. The failure can endanger the other critical
elements. Also, failure can lead to the escaping of poisonous and deadly chemical
contents. It can result to the environmental toxic waste and contamination.
