Procedures
Lesson 1- Mardi Gras Mambo Social Studies- Caroline Kallam
The students will be given a PowerPoint presentation on the History of Mardi Gras. The
students will then be asked to break off into groups. They will be instructed to focus on one
aspect of the origin of Mardi Gras (such as why the colors? Where did the king cake come
from? Where was the initial start? Why parades?) and create a skit that describes the origins of
this aspect of Mardi Gras. Students will start this process by creating a Brainstorming Map on
Inspiration highlighting what elements they want to showcase in their skit. They then will
create a script for their skit. The students will then perform the skit in front of the class.

Lesson 2 - Mardi Gras Mambo Mathematics- Madison Liggio

On first day, students will participate in a teacher guided activity that is conducted through a
Prezi. The Prezi lists throws that would be on a float, along with their unit price and the
quantity. The students as a class will calculate the price for each individual throw and all

throws, while the teacher conducts frequent probes. The students will then construct an Excel
spreadsheet and a chart. The chart will chart the numbers that fall in the last column on the
spreadsheet. An example spreadsheet and chart will be displayed.

Lesson 3- Mardi Gras Mambo Language Arts- Meghan Theriot

Students will use QR codes to view assignment. Teacher will guide activity by displaying the
QR code. Students will then use this link to type a complete paragraph based on the image in
the document. Students will use basic knowledge of writing skills and use 1 st person point of
view to write their paragraph. The student will then upload their completed document into a
shared class Google Drive.
