Introduction
This is a (IMO) pretty simple cable labeling system that can be easily adapted to most any home or office
network application.
The labels can be printed on whatever medium is most convienient to you, my choice is self-adhesive return-
address labels available in most office supply stores. To permanently secure the labels to the cable use either
clear packing tape, or (my favorite) a short piece of clear shrink wrap. Obviously the shrink-wrap idea won't
work for retro-fit labels.

Rooms
I use the following codes for various rooms:
FM Family Room
LV Living Room
MB Master Bedroom
Bx Bedroom X
BS Basement
KT Kitchen
RC Rec Room
WK Workout Room
WS Workshop
FY Foyer

PC Porch
PT Patio
LD Laundry Room
DN Den

Location
For the Location I use compass directions, N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW.
these refer to what wall the cable is on in the respective room.

Location Number
If there is more than one cable outlet on a given wall then I use a number to designate each outlet box.

Cable Types
I use the following to designate cable types:
C3 Cat 3
C4 Cat 4
C5 Cat 5
R5 RG-59
R6 RG-6
SP Speaker Wire
IR IR Dist. System
UT Misc UTP
ST Misc STP
AL Alarm
IC Inter-Connect (Mostly for A/V equipment)
HV HVAC
SC Security Camera
PW Misc Power wire

Cable Numbers
If more than one cable of a particular type exists in a box I use a number to identify each cable.

Date of Install
Date the cable was installed

Installer
Name, initials, or employee number of the cable installer.

Other End
Where the other end of the cable goes to. Most cables are home run, but this is most usefull for interconnect
cables or similar where the cable may run to another room.
