I, Haroon Rashid, hold M.Phil. degree in Pharmaceutics (polymeric drug delivery) from the
Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan and I would like to apply for the Ph.D. program in
your research group. After completing this Ph.D. program, I plan to continue my research in the
field of polymeric smart drug delivery. My goal is to become a faculty member at a leading
university and to investigate the improvements in drug delivery systems in order to make them
compatible with human body followed by implementation on industrial scale. This program
would help me to start my career as a specialist in modern polymeric drug delivery. I am very
excited by polymeric networks, their manipulation for targeting and cellular uptake, as all of
them have major applications in targeted drug delivery systems. Since, conventional drug
delivery systems had considerable draw backs, therefore, polymeric drug delivery systems
became the main domain of research for the pharmaceutical drug delivery systems. I also believe
that my work experience in targeted drug delivery and manipulation of the functional polymers
can prove to be an important factor in my future consignments in the same field of research. I
must add here that I have learned to synthesize and characterize different polymeric networks for
drug delivery systems, in a well integrated research group where each member could learn from
other without hesitation. The research Group that is headed by you, has a distinguished research
status. After my search through the homepage and your publications list, I can easily mention
here that research level is international, the environment is stimulating, and the projects are
creative. They are all crucially advantageous for research, and hence, divert my attention towards
your group. From practical experience, and study, I have a strong foundation in IPN polymeric
network synthesis, intelligent polymeric systems, their application as drug delivery,
characterization and also the investigation towards Nano gels. My master thesis name was
Fabrication of pH-sensitive Matrix Systems for the delivery of Analgesic agent. I have been
selected by DAAD and HEC for Ph.D. overseas scholarship of Germany from Govt. of Pakistan.
It is a fully funded scholarship. Our Higher Education Commission is Govt. body which selects
students all over the country for this prestigious scholarship. The total selected candidates for this
overseas scholarship are 350 people in different fields of study, out of heavily populated country
