BRIEF OVERVIEW OF NMDC LIMITED

NMDC Ltd. is a Government of India Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of
Steel having its Registered Office at Hyderabad. It is the largest producer of Iron Ore in the
country. The Company has iron ore mines in Bailadila in Chhattisgarh and Donimalai in
Karantaka, It also has a Diamond mine at Panna in Madhya Pradesh and a Sponge Iron Plant at
Paloncha in Telangana.

Share Capital

As on 31st March 2015, the authorised equity share capital of the company is Rs.400 crores and
the paid up equity share capital is Rs.396.47 crores. Government of India holds 80% of the paid
up equity share capital in the company.

Production units

Presently, NMDC is operating two iron ore production units in Chhattisgarh and one iron ore
production unit in Karnataka. It has one Diamond Mining Project in Madhya Pradesh. In addition,
it has a few projects under implementation, some projects under consideration for investment
decision and some more under investigation / study.

Scope of Business

NMDC is in the process of commissioning Bailadila11B Iron ore mine in Chhattisgarh state with
7.0 mtpa capacity. NMDC is also in process of commissioning Kumaraswamy Iron ore Mine in
Karnataka with 7.0 mtpa capacity to meet the increasing domestic demand.

NMDC is setting up a 3.0 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar, Near Jagdalpur in
Chhattisgarh State. A wholly owned subsidiary company by the name NMDC Steel Limited has
been incorporated.

As part of its beneficiation programme, NMDC is also constructing a 1.2 MTPA Pellet plant at
Donimalai in Karnataka.

As a part of waste disposal management, NMDC is taking up new product development through
its intensive R&D efforts for production of High-Tech and High Value added products from Blue
Dust such as Carbon Free Sponge Iron Powder, Ready to Press (RTP) Ferrite Powders,
Pigment Grade Ferric Oxide, Titania Slag, Pig Iron and High Purity Ferric Oxide. NMDC R&D
activities have established usage of Kimberlite waste from Diamond mine, Panna in cement
industries and also for preparation of anti-fluoride filters to minimize fluorine content in drinking
water. NMDC, R&D centre has developed a process flow sheet for beneficiation BHJ/BHQ
material and a demonstration plant is planned to construct at Donimalai.

NMDC is also taking up diversification activities into other minerals such as gold, coal,
magnesite, limestone, etc.
