What is AVID? How is it implemented in the elementary school?

I am excited and proud for our school to begin using the AVID AVID Schools in
philosophy in the upcoming school year! I can't wait to see the Craven County

transformation take place!

AVID Elementary incorporates:

Student Success Skills encompassing

West Craven High
communication skills (e.g. listening, speaking,

writing), self-advocacy skills, note-taking soon
strategies, critical thinking, and study skills.
HJ MacDonald
Organizational Skills both mental and Middle School-
physical; students learn to use organizational deploying soon
tools, as well as learn and practice skills around
time management and goal-setting. West Craven Middle
School-deploying
WICOR Lessons emphasize instruction on soon
writing to learn, inquiry, collaboration,
organization, and reading to learn in all content areas.

Partnerships among students, classrooms, grade levels, schools,

feeder patterns, families, and communities.
