EARTHQUAKE LOAD

Seismic forces were determined based on the equivalent static force

procedure and computed following the provision of NSCP 2010.

Design Considerations
*Based on actual Geotechnical Investigation Report
Occupancy category = IV (Standard Occupancy); Importance factor, I = 1
Seismic zone = 4; Seismic zone factor, Z = 0.4
Distance to seismic zone = 6 km
Seismic source type = A (active and capable of producing magnitude 7.0)
Near source factor: Na = 1.2, Nv = 1.6
Soil profile type = Sc (very dense soil and soft rock)
Seismic coefficient: Ca = 0.48Na; Cv = 0.896Nv
Ct = 0.0731 (for concrete)
Overstrength factor, R = 8.5 (special RC moment frames, NSCP 2010 table 208-11A)
Valley Fault System

WIND LOAD

Design Considerations
*The design shall conform to Section 207 WIND LOADS of NSCP 2010
Laguna Area (zone 2)
Basic wind speed, V = 200kph
Occupancy category = IV (Standard Occupancy); Importance factor, Iw = 1
Surface roughness = C (207.5.6.2 Surface Roughness Categories, NSCP 2010)
Exposure category = C (207.5.6.3 Surface Roughness Categories, NSCP 2010)

LOAD COMBINATIONS

Reinforced concrete section shall be designed using the Strength Design

method of the NSCP 2010 and using load factors and the critical load combination
from the following:

U = 1.4D
U = 1.2D + 1.6L
U = 1.2D + 1.0L 1.0E
U = 0.9D 1.0E
U = 1.2D + 1.6W +1.0L

Where:
D = dead load
L = live load
E = earthquake load
W = wind load
