To create these goals, I have reflected on
what I am aiming to improve on
professionally and personally whilst on my
next block of professional experience. The
goals that I have written are clear, realistic
and measurable for me to achieve.
Groundswater-Smith (2015) explains that
teachers need to take effective action to
create a learning environment to support
students learning and social needs. By
achieving these goals, with the support of
my mentor teacher I will be creating and
maintaining safe learning environments for
my students.

By observing and reflecting on
strategies used by my mentor
teacher to support engagement
and inclusion within the
classroom, I can develop
strategies and approaches that
suit my personal teaching style
whilst still supporting student
learning needs (APST 4.1)
My aim is to demonstrate clear
and explicit instructions to
students about the lesson. To do
this I need to know what
outcomes are to come from this
lesson to ensure my
communication is detailed and
states the expectations of
students in regards to the lesson
(APST 4.2)
By promoting positive behaviour
within my classroom, it will
reinforce to students what they
should be doing rather than
focusing on the negative
behaviour which may influence
students to think about their
actions (APST 4.3).
