1. Family letter about student progress

Dear Parent,

Your child has made great strides in my classroom this year. He is a very hard worker
and shows has much potential. He is a great kid to have in my class and I love that he comes to
school everyday eager to learn. When he walked into my classroom at the beginning of the
school year he was shy and quiet. Although I am pleased, he has came out of his shell and
made new friends he does disrupt the class when his talking sometimes. I have moved him
closer to the front of the room and talked to him about the issue, and it has helped, but we still
have a little work to do. At the beginning of the year, he struggled with reading. We have worked
very hard to get all our students reading at standard level, your student has made great strides
and is almost there. We just need to keep him reading aloud at night. If you have any questions
or suggestions about the talking, I am open to any ideas. I look forward to your response! With
less talking and more reading, the rest of the school year will be great and he will be ready to
move onto fourth grade.
2. Meeting notes
February 1 , 2017

3rd Grade Department Meeting

Present: all members

Time: 3:30 - 5:00

Topic: Learning to Divide Using Multiplication

1. Read meeting notes from last time
2. Review topic for discussion
3. Allow everyone to give input
4. Write down ideas using a shared google doc for discussion purposes
5. Write meeting notes of what is accomplished: list ideas

Conclusion:
We decided that all students will be taught with a video intro. From there the teacher will
go over a few different methods and how it relates to multiplication. Then the teachers
will have them get out whiteboards to all do problems together. After that we will give
them a worksheet and walk around and give further assistance to the kids who have not
fully understood the concept.
