EPOC

This battery, Evaluation of Potential Creativity (EPoC), is a new instrument that allows creative
giftednesstobemeasured.Itincludesverbalandgraphicsubteststhatmeasurethetwokeymodes
of creative cognitiondivergentexploratory thinking and convergentintegrative thinkingin
elementary and middleschool students. Psychometric results concerning the instrument were
developed,aswellasanoriginal,internetbasedscoringsystemthatenhancesinterraterreliabilityis
underconstruction.Itisacomprehensiveevaluationtoolthatcombinesanapproachtocreativityby
domain and by mode of thought, allowing a profile of creative potential to be assessed. The EPoC
systemprovidesopportunitiestoaddadditionaldomainstotheassessment(e.g.,socialdomainand
themusicaldomain,currentlyunderdevelopment).EPoCincludesatrainingprogramforevaluatorsto
facilitatetestuseandscoring.Thebattery,developedinitiallywithasampleofFrenchschoolchildren,
canbeusedasanefficientdiagnostictooltoidentifycreativepotentialandtomonitorprogress,using
pretestsandposttests,ineducationalprogramsdesignedtoenhancecreativity.EPoCisavailablein
fivelanguages,including:FrenchEnglishArabicTurkishandGerman.Inthesecondphaseofthis
project,theinstrumentwillbeavailableinotherlanguages.
