Leadership Considerations:
1. When working with participants who have Borderline Personality Disorder and Major
Depression Disorder, it is imperative to keep them in a safe and positive environment. People
with BPD experience mood instability and have difficulty with social functioning. The
therapy must incorporate concepts that involve rational thinking and emotional thinking.
You want the participants to work with others to help manage their mood swings and
regulate emotions. This provides self-awareness to the individual and helps them gain
confidence to a positive social interaction.
As far as Major Depression Disorder, this too involves instability with emotion; however, it
is triggered by situational factors. People with MDD experience extreme agitation,
negativism and immobility, along with cognitive and emotional impairment. Like BPD,
keeping a positive approach to the therapy helps the individual experience social support and
development to a healthy leisure or recreational activity.
2. Keep in mind that all categories and topics must be in an optimistic element. Frain from any
physical touching and or negative topics. Be observant to all individuals. Every participant
should be engaged while guessing and acting out.
