Service Learning Questions 2
EDUC 250 Educational Psychology
Type your answers to the following questions.
1. During this observation, what was the schedule of the day like?
Went I arrived, the children were doing a morning work block. They had three steps to
complete. After that, they went to music class. When they came back, they ate lunch. They had a
few minutes of free time after lunch. That was ended by art. After art, the kids had a dental
presentation. A woman from a pediatric dentistry office talked to the class about good oral health.
When she left, the kids worked on an oral health activity book. They then ate snack and I left.
2. What parts of this time frame do the students seem to enjoy the most? What parts of this time
and music. They also like free time. It seemed challenging for the kids to focus on the work they
3. During this observation, what opportunities do the students have to socialize? How is this
managed?
During lunch, they were free to socialize. Also during free time, if it is not specifically
told to them that it is quiet time, then they are free to chat quietly. Jen simply lets them know
when they are being too loud. She will move clips if nessacary.
4. What are the three questions that you asked your teacher (hint: you wrote those on your first
journal) and what was your teachers answer? (Write the question and then summarize the
teachers responses).
I actually changed majors three times. I knew I wanted to work with people. Once I started I

twenty hours within this class. These hours I completed were very beneficial to my education
experience. Being in the classroom has helped me gain experience and to see how a teacher
should behave in a classroom. I had a very positive experience and relationship with my service
learning teacher.
INTASC Standard 10 is all about appropriate leadership roles. While I was in the
classroom, I saw how my teacher lead her classroom. The children respected her and listened to
what she had to say. If they acted up and she got mad, they were really guilty. They apologized
for their behavior. By observing her and how she interacted with the students, I saw the criteria
for a good leader in the classroom. I also asked her, as stated in the artifact, a couple of personal
questions about how she got into the field and about her education. By doing this, I realized her
care and love for her students. She had a certain mindset that a teacher must have in order to be
happy within the field. This is how my artifact relates to INTASC Standard 10.
Many goals can be gathered from this standard. I am a passive person. I am very soft and
it is hard for me to get strict. My goal is to come up with ways to be a good leader. I cannot be
passive within the classroom. That approach would result in chaos. I must observe and further
