5th Grade website :excelsiorlionsgohigh.weebly.com

This week, we continuing our unit on angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals with missing angles as our
main focus. Ask your student to tell you what they know about exterior angles of triangles!

This week, we are returning to our study of classic poetry before we embark on our next novel
study, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Students will be completing a daily outline analysis
chart of the poem that we are working on. Have your student review their daily poem with you
and explain how their analysis chart and notes help them to better understand each poem!

We are continuing our study of the Civil War: discussing factors leading to major battles, strategies
inside the war, and the complicated issues that resulted from brother fighting brother. Talk to your
student about their background, historical knowledge (gathered from previous studies) which will
inform their understanding of the Civil War and its intricate variables.

We are continuing our study of weather with a focus on types of weather and weather safety!
We are also beginning our study of Galileos biography. Ask your student what they have
learned about weather, weather patterns, and weather safety!

* Please see the homework calendar on the website for this weeks details.
* Students should be working for no longer than 40 minutes per subject, per night. If you or your student
reaches a frustration point OR you are unclear of what needs to be done for the work, please send us an email
so that we can help your student first thing the next morning.
* Homework is only excused with a parent note.
