Objectives
Objectives correspond with PA State Standards listed above.

SWBAT use place-value concepts to represent amounts of tens and ones and to compare two digit numbers.

SWBAT identify place value of two digit numbers

SWBAT demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English when speaking, based on Grade 1 level
and content.

Lesson Introduction: (5-7 min)

Teacher will review rules for using base ten cubes.

Teacher will pass out place value mats and base ten cubs.
Teacher will review previous lesson and explain ones and tens place by providing examples on the

board.

Teacher will put a number on the board and ask students to identify which number is in the tens pace and

which number is in the ones place.

Teacher will demonstrate how to use base ten to represent two digit numbers.

Teacher will put a number on the board and ask students to use their base ten cubes to represent the tens

Teacher will walk around to check for understanding.

Teacher will ask a volunteer to share their answer

Teacher will do a few more practice numbers on the bored allowing volunteers to come up to the bored

to show their answers.

Activities/Procedures: (25-30min)
Lesson Plans are conducive to student achievement and focus on PA State standards and objectives

Teacher will collect place value mats.

Teacher will introduce and explain Base Ten Family activity.

Directions: Students will match the correct base ten picture cards to the correct number card. Student

will record their answers on the base ten matching recording sheet individually.

Teacher will assign partners and pass out base ten cards and recording sheets

Teacher will assess students by walking around and observing students completing activity.

Teacher will assist students as necessary.

When students are finished matching, student can race to see who can match the cards the fastest.

Closing& Assessment: (5-7 min)

Students will complete base ten matching recording sheet with partner

Students will complete check for understanding questions independently as an exit ticket to the car
