Lesson title: Japanese Internments


Step 1Desired Results
Summary:
Through a visual presentation, the students will learn and attempt to
understand the feelings of Japanese-Americans who were subjected to U.S.
internment camps

Describe the historical and current impact of various cultural groups on Utah.

Step 2Assessment Evidence


The student will:

1. Read and hear of experiences of those who were subjected to Internment


camps

2. Show the mentality, emotions,etc. of those who were involved with the
internment camps such as the Prisoners, the government, political figures,
soldiers etc., using skits and dialogue

3. Watch, perform, compare, analyze and critic other performances

Lesson Listen to the song Kenji by Fort Minor


Opening

What do you know about World War II?


What kinds of things happened what did they look
like?
Share rubric with class.

Play the game Hot Seat to allow students to focus,

learn how to use background knowledge and
apply it to characters and prepare for the lesson.

1. Have students break into groups and decide

to give praise for where appropriate.

people who were involved
