the filling will be ______________________ that of a regular Oreo cookie.
Variables:
Independent Variable (what you change): __________________________________
Procedure:
1. Obtain one regular oreo cookie and one double stuff oreo
2. Create a weigh boat using a plain sheet of paper
3. Find the mass of each type of cookie using an electronic balance * be
sure to tare the weigh boat before you find the mass
4. Using a plastic utensil, scrape off the creme filling from both wafters
5. Find the mass of the wafers * be sure to tare the weigh boat before you
find the mass
6. Find the mass of the creme filling * tare the weigh boat
Class Data: Input your data into the class Google sheets documents.
Things to include in the document:
1. Your last name and your partners last name
2. Mass of Creme Filling in a Regular Oreo
3. Mass of Creme Filling in a Double Stuff Oreo
Calculate: Using the class Google sheets document, calculate the class
averages for creme filling
3. Was the hypothesis supported by our data? Using the class data,
support or negate your hypothesis and write your answer here.
Question Time:
1. How do the percent composition of the cookies compare?
3. If each Regular Oreo had a molar mass of 120 g/mol, how many
moles would be present in one Regular Oreo cookie?
4. If each Regular Oreo had a molar mass of 120 g/mol, how many
particles would be present in one Regular Oreo cookie? (* Avogadros
Number 1 mol= 6.02 x 1023)
5. What is the general formula for determining percent
composition?
