6.3 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

An initial investigation culminates in the proposal that determines

whether an alternative system is feasible or not. The proposal summarizing the

study of the system is presented to the user for review. When approved, the

proposal initiates feasibility study that meets the system performance

requirement and the objectives. To test the feasibility of this “STUDENT

INFORMATION SYSTEM”,
SYSTEM” the following aspects were studied in details so

that there should not be any resistance from the personnel of the user

organization.

The following activities were studied.

• Main characteristics of the system.

• Output requirements including response time.

• Varieties of data and estimated volume thereof.

• Feasibility study for user and system management.

• Objectives and requirements of the system.

The following key considerations were involved in the feasibility analysis.

• TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

• ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY

• OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

6.1 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

The assessment of technical feasibility must be based on an outline

design of the system requirements in terms of input, output, files,

programming procedures and staff. This can be qualified in terms of volume of

data, trends, frequency of updating, circle of operation, etc, In order to give an

indirection of scale and magnitude of the technical requirements. The technical

feasibility centres on the existing system and to what extent it can support the

proposed system. Previously, St. Severin’s High School was running with a

cumbersome manual system. Now as they are well equipped with the

hardware, software and human ware to run this package, the proposed system

is technically feasible.

6.2 ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY

Economical analysis is the most important for evaluating the

effectiveness of a proposed system. It determines the cost to be incurred and

the benefits and as well as the cost saving will be gained by implementing the

proposed system. All the problem areas of the existing system have been

detected and special care has been taken to remove them in the proposed

system.

6.3 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

The proposed system is beneficial as it can be turned into information

system that will meet the operational requirements of the client.

The following two points mainly formed basis of operational feasibility.

• The abundant support for the project from the users.

• The acceptance of proposed method by the users.
