Procedures
Procedure 1) Line Up
Detailed steps of Procedure:
When students are preparing to go into class, walk to an assembly, or any
moment when the students need to line up I will begin to sign to the
students. I hope that this procedure will limit the amount of yelling that I
need to do to gain the students attention and to have them line up. As the
students begin to see me signing for them to line up, they will order
themselves in number order. This will aid me in knowing who was there for
the day and which tables will gain points for being in line nicely.

Procedure 2)
Detailed steps of Procedure: Comment, Question, Answer, restroom signs.
When the students enter my classroom on the first day, I will begin to teach
them various signs that would promote non-verbal communication. This will
limit the amount of side conversations and excess answers or questions
during lectures. The students will be able to instantly tell me when they need
to go to the restroom, have a comment regarding the lesson or have
something they need to tell me. The student can also sign that they have a
question and can limit off topic questions during lessons or throughout the
day. BY showing the students the sign for having an answer, I am providing
them with a way to clearly show me they either 1. Understand the question,
2 are thinking about possible answers and 3 are actually attempting to
participate.

Procedure 3)
Detailed steps of Procedure: Give Me Five
When students see me raise my hand or call out give me five, I will have
taught them to, 1. (If they are on the carpet) have legs crossed, or if they are
sitting at their desks sit properly on their seat. 2. They will place their hands
quietly in their lap or on their desk. 3. They will put their listening ear on,
meaning they will try to focus on what I am saying. 4. They will turn their
eyes to me and show me that they are watching. 5. They will catch a bubble,
limiting the chatter and respecting me and one another.

Consequences Negative Behavior
During the day, I will provide students with blurt cubes. Each student will start the day off with
the word Blurt. Throughout the day, if students start to act out or go off task I will take away a
cube. At the end of the day we will track to see how many cubes the students ended up with.
This system, will grant you a prize at the end of the day if they have the full word blurt.
The students will also be subject to negative dojo points throughout the day. This will provide
me with real time tracking of their behavior as well as their parents.

SCHOOL BEHAVIORAL STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Ex) Taft Tigers are a community of leaders who are respectful, responsible and safe
Loma Vista Elementary School chooses to praise and encourage students to instill a growth
mindset and grit. Our school behavior code is: Be kind, Be safe, Be Responsible.
We have a reward system of Cougar Cards at Loma Vista. Students may earn a variety of rewards
for appropriate behavior displayed in the classroom and out on the playground. Cougar Cards are
given by staff members when students remember to display virtues of success or act in accordance
with our schools behavior code to Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible. Each teacher also utilizes
their own classroom behavior procedures to conduct their class.
PBIS SCHOOL-WIDE BEHAVIORAL MATRIX
If there were a conflict between students in your class, describe the restorative practices
you would use to address the conflict. (Please describe both informal and formal practices).
If there were a conflict within my classroom I would go about assessing the situation as I stepped
in to aid the students through the conflict. Depending on the severity of the conflict or
disagreement with the students I would use various levels of informal and formal restorative
practices.
Two students are arguing over a flexible seat choice. The teacher notices one student is sad as the
other yells that the seat belongs to them. The teacher first redirects the student yelling to a new
area. Once the student leaves the situation, the teacher begins to speak with her, first by stating It
was very difficult for me to hear you speak to her that way. Then the teacher would ask the
student, Do you think that was a nice way to handle that situation? How would you have felt
being yelled at? By asking the student these two questions the teacher is trying to gage the
students empathy for the situation and other student.
Meetings/Conferences
If the issue continues with this student after, the teacher clarifies the rules and discusses it with
the class, the teacher will then call for a meeting with the students parents. The teacher will also
ask to speak with the principal to see if there is anything she knows of that may be bother the
student at home or outside of school. This will provide the teacher and the principal with similar
information and for the principal to be aware of the outburst in the classroom.
