Safeguard the Source! The M-0236 Power Transfer Relay allows sources with large
phase angles, or motor buses with low composite inertia, to transfer on the first slip
cycle. In that manner, shock to the motors due to excess power transfer does not occur.
If you don't think transfer near a zero phase angle difference between your motors and
the new source is important, did you know that a 12 phase angle difference can hard
load motors with 30% of full load shock? Stress your rotating machinery does not need
to endure! This is especially true for synchronous motors where the voltage is held up to
nominal during the transfer process.

Even a sm all angle (12 degrees) can cause
large instantaneous power flows
Scalable Application If studies show that only two transfer methods will work under
all conditions, a residual transfer can be combined with either a fast (high speed synch-
check) or in-phase (high speed synchronizer). This allows a first cost savings for these
highly predictable applications.
Meeting Utility Standards - The Syncrotran System and any of the constituent relays
meet pertinent ANSI standards, including ANSI C37-90.2 RFI at 35 V/M.
Application Flexibility The Syncrotran System automatically will determine the best
transfer fast, in phase, and residual to match the conditions at the instant of transfer.
Conditions such as depressed voltage, faults, and different power plant loading can all
have an effect on the motor bus inertia and voltage during the transfer process. The
Syncrotran System possesses the high speed measurement, decision making ability and
speed of command execution for motor transfer applications.
