Security Alert

At 1:30 a.m., Saturday November 14 -- A woman attending a party at a residence in the


5600 block of South University reported being sexually assaulted by an unknown man.

The Chicago Police and the University of Chicago Police are investigating.

When attending parties use common sense and remain aware. Go with a group of
friends and watch out for each other.

Security Alert

At approximately 9:20 p.m., Monday February 16 - A woman walking at 1116 East 59th
Street was struck from behind and pushed to the ground by a man who tried to remove
her slacks. The woman fought the man and ran to a nearby UCPD emergency phone, saw
a passing UCPD squad car and informed the officer of the attack. The offender was
described as male white or hispanic, 60, with bushy hair, wearing dark clothing. Police
are investigating.

Security Alert

At 9:20 p.m., Wednesday, October 1 -- University Police found a woman on the street at
5411 South Ellis Avenue. It appears she was struck in the head during an assault. Details
are not fully known at this time. The victim was transported to the hospital in serious
condition.

Police are investigating.

Security Alert

At 9:55 p.m., Wednesday, October 8 -- A woman entering the lobby of her apartment
building on Hyde Park Boulevard near Dorchester was grabbed from behind by a man
who forced her to an area at the rear of the building where he sexually assaulted and
robbed her. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment. Police are
checking building surveillance cameras for possible images of the suspect.

Security Alert Update

Chicago police have arrested a 33-year-old man for the October 8 sexual assault and
armed robbery of a woman in her apartment building in the 1300 block of Hyde Park
Boulevard (see http://www.uchicago.edu/safety/alerts/archive/20081009_alert.shtml). The
suspect has also been charged in a separate sexual assault that occurred on October 21,
2008, in the 6300 block of South Rhodes Avenue. He is in custody charged with two
counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Security Alert

Chicago Police, in cooperation with UCPD, have arrested a 23-year-old man for the
assault of a woman on the street at 5411 South Ellis Avenue. The crime occurred on
October 1, 2008, and was the subject of a previous security alert (see
http://www.uchicago.edu/safety/alerts/archive/20081001_alert.shtml). This suspect also
has been charged in a separate robbery that occurred on October 2, 2008, in the 5400
block of South Ridgewood Court. He has been charged with one count of aggravated
robbery and two counts of aggravated battery.

9:10 p.m., Tuesday, July 19 -- On 56th Street at Greenwood -- A University student was
walking with a friend when an unknown male ran between them and touched her
inappropriately between the legs. The suspect said nothing before he continued walking
west on 56th Street. The victim, not injured, walked home. The report to police was made
later in the evening.

At approximately 12:10 p.m., Tuesday January 7- A woman not affiliated with the
University walking off campus northbound on University Avenue near 63rd Street was
approached by an unknown male who displayed a knife and forced the victim to
accompany him to a gangway of an apartment building where he forced her to perform a
sex act. The suspect took $35 from the victim before fleeing eastbound on 62nd Street.
Chicago police are investigating.

This information was relayed to UCPD by CHicago police on Thursday, January 9.

Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. When walking, try to walk with a
group or have a friend walk with you. There is safety in numbers. Familiarize yourself
with the location of University emergency phones. If you see suspicious activity, please
report it immediately to the police by activating an emergency phone or by calling UCPD

Security Alert Update

Chicago Police have charged a suspect for an aggravated criminal sexual assault and
armed robbery that ocurred in the 6100 block of Woodlawn Avenue on January 7, 2014
and was the subject of a previous security alert.

The suspect is in custody and charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault and
armed robbery.

Security Alert

Approximately 7:30 p.m., Friday December 6- A University student walking off campus,
on Blackstone Avenue between 57th Street and 58th Street, was approached by two
unknown males who pushed her into an alley and fondled her. The victim was not
injured. The victim walked home and later communicated with friends and a University
staff member about the incident. The crime has not been reported to police; little further
information is available.

Be alert and aware of your surroundings at all times. When walking, try to walk with a
group of have a friend walk with you. Familiarize yourself with the location of University
emergency phones.

If you are the victim of a crime, or if you see suspicious activity, please report it
immediately by activating an emergency phone or by calling University of Chicago Police
from a safe location. Your safety and the safety of the community depends on timely
reporting.

Security Alert

At approximately 10:05 p.m., Saturday, May 19- A University student was walking west on
the sidewalk on 57th Street between Woodlawn Avenue and University Avenue when an
unknown male approached, pushed her into the alley and fondled her. The suspect fled
when the victim screamed. The victim walked home and called the police. The suspect is
described as a male, white, 19-20 years-of-age, approximately 60, short blonde hair, fair
complexion, wearing a dark polo shirt and dark pants.
