Finances: On finances the year opened with a bank balance of £36.635, an anticipated income of
£54,000 from the precept and modest other income expected from cemetery charges, grants and bank
interest to fund a budget of £53,272. In practice additional income was accrued due to the receipt of
Parish Plan implementation grants, the community bus grant and the growing income stream from the new
cemetery resulting in a total other income of £10,197. Expenditure during the year amounted to £53,268
and with the increased income this resulted in a year-end balance of £47,564, the balance being carried
forward includes provision for asset replacement and significant sums for agreed projects such as a grant
towards the Community Centre heating system and grant funded Parish Plan implementation expenditure.
The declared total value of fixed assets increased from £86,127 to £145,674 due to a combination of index
linking and the inclusion of insured assets not previously recorded on the asset register. The Parish Council
accounts are subject to internal and external audit and passed audit without qualification.

Country house sold
THE grade II listed
Hockenhull Hall has been
sold for £4million at auction.
The country home was
formerly owned by the Arnold
family for many years and
dates back to the early 18th
century. It is believed that the
property was sold to a private
buyer.
Drugs conviction
A TEENAGER has been convicted of possession and intent to supply drugs after police
raided a house in Tattenhall and found £10,000 worth tablets earlier this year.
Charity trek
THE Sandstone Scout Group Beavers raised £1,100 for the Children on the Edge charity
after hiking six miles through the Cheshire countryside.
Cotebrook competition
THE Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre is running a competition for the best photograph at the
tourist attraction. The winning entries will go into the Cotebrook publicity leaflet. Entries can
be emailed to cotebrookphoto@gmail.com by 29th September.
Ball success
THIS year’s Tarporley Ball raised nearly £10,000 for the Christie Hospital charity.
Meanwhile, local man George Potter has been given an award by Christie’s for his voluntary
work over many years, specialising in obesity at the Manchester hospital.
Following a £1.7 million investment programme, this magical medieval style Castle now offers
even more. Stunning new facilities have been added to further complement the truly enchanting
experience that is Peckforton Castle.

Tarporley War Memorial Hospital

Tarporley
Cheshire CW6 0AP
DO YOU KNOW....
that in 1948 when the National Health Service start-
ed, the hospital was taken over as an NHS hospital.
After a few years, the NHS were selling off all the
smaller hospitals in Cheshire and then, at last, they
wanted to sell Tarporley War Memorial Hospital.
DO YOU KNOW....
that the people of Tarporley and District said ‘NO’.
It is a War Memorial Hospital and it should not be
closed. After a hard fight, it was agreed that much
of the land attached to the hospital should be sold and the hospital was brought back from
the NHS and became an Independent Hospital Trust.
DO YOU KNOW....
that the hospital is supported by
a) a limited amount of funding from the NHS to cover some of the services offered
b) interest on investments which are administed by the Hospital Trust Board
c) money raised by events held by the League of Friends
d) donations and legacies from the public.
The investment interest is inadequate in the present financial climate and many expensive
items are purchased by the League of Friends

A bike was stolen from the community centre on Saturday 19th June if anyone saw
anything or has any information please contact us.
There have been a couple of burglaries in a dwelling and a further attempt burglary in the
Market Court and Burton Square area. If anyone sees any suspicious activity, can I stress
the need to report it straight away to the Police.
Over the next month or so, myself and PC Gigg will be carrying out a proactive traffic
offences campaign, to include parking related matters and also general low level driving
offences.
As the summer holidays are upon us we are aware of the possible increase in anti social
behaviour. Myself and PC Gigg will be working together to help minimise this over the
coming weeks. I would again like to reiterate the importance of reporting incidents to the
police.
If you have any questions or see me on patrol please feel free to stop and chat or
alternatively contact either myself or PC Ged Gigg at Dragon Hall Police Station
