To Whom It May Concern

It is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Lizette Reyes. Lizette was in my Child
Development class during her junior year and my Health/Family Living class for the first semester
of her senior year. I have known her since August 2015. As a student, Lizette consistently
demonstrates qualities that will enable her to be successful. Lizette is attentive and follows
directions. She completes assignments in a timely manner. Lizette works well on both individual
and group projects, working effectively and cooperatively with fellow students. She participates in
class and expresses herself well in both writing and speaking.

Lizette has maintained a 3.6 GPA in upper level/advanced placement courses throughout high
school; this places her in the top 17% of her academic class of nearly 370 students. She has
served over 300 hours of community service in school and community activities: Mercy Hospital
volunteers, PALS, and community outreach breakfasts and holiday events and school activities.
PALS is Peer Assisted Learning Program designed to encourage peer interaction with the
special needs students at Merced High School through assistance with daily school related tasks.
She is also in the P.A.C.I.F.I.C. Club. This encourages interaction on a social level by hanging out
with the students to play games , talk, eat lunch, school dances, etc.

Lizette has been in the AVID program all four years. She has served as the AVID Vice President.
She was identified as AVID student of the month. Being a student in this program has increased
the effectiveness of her study habits, note taking strategies, test taking skills, etc. AVID,
Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing
the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities.
The program's philosophy is to hold students accountable to the highest standards, provide them
with academic and social support, and have confidence they will rise to the challenge.

Her ability to manage her grades, community service and extracurricular activities demonstrates
dedication and perseverance. She has been involved in band for three years and she is currently
participating in winter percussion. This has required time and dedication. Lizette is hard-working,
positive and motivated. These traits will serve her well as she pursues her college education and
future career. She plans to pursue a career as a cosmetologist and work toward a degree in
Business Administration. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Sincerely,
