This course is a freshman Japanese class and we will be focusing on Japanese 1-2. It
is designed for students who do not have past knowledge about Japanese. This class
will be important for students because it will allow them to be open and learn about
another culture! Japanese! In this course, students will learn about the basics of
Japanese, beginning from the Japanese alphabet (hiragana, katakana), moving on to
kanji, simple words, phrases, and more. The student should be able to read and write
the Japanese hiragana, and katakana by the end of the first semester. They will be
using the Yookoso textbook, charts, and other material given to them to learn about
Japanese and their culture. The following will be studied throughout this course:
Hiragana
Katakana
Kanji
