meaningfully integrate lesson there are some Youtube ESL videos on cooking that work well
technology into your lesson? with this lesson and can provide for listening practice and activities.

Reflection
What went well? How do you The final activity having students create their own recipe went very
know? well. My co-teacher and I were able to observe our students using the
vocabulary words from the handout properly and students were
engaged and excited to present their recipes to the class.
What didnt go as planned? The vocabulary words/phrases introduction didnt go as planned as I
was not able to get as many examples or sentences from the students as
I would have liked to. The teachers did most of the talking during this
activity than the students.
What contingency plan did Due to the teaching context students arrive at various times to class and
you employ? our new lessons typically begin when all the students are present. I
stuck to the lesson plan for the most part besides delaying the lesson
until more students arrived to class. During that time I did a review of
past sessions material.
What would you do Next time I would like to include a video presentation including the
differently next time? gestures for cooking to further solidify the cooking actions. This will
also take away from the majority of teacher talk time and give students
the opportunity to listen to others speak English.
Did your students meet the I do believe my students met the purpose and learning objectives for
purpose and objectives for this this lesson and they also enjoyed the topic.
lesson? What is your Listening: students were writing down notes including definitions and
evidence for each? examples for each vocabulary word.
Speaking: students used vocabulary and process terms learned in the
lesson when sharing their recipes with the class.
Reading: students read the vocabulary word list when reviewed a
second time during the end of the class.
Writing: students were able to use appropriate food vocabulary and
process signal words to use in the recipe directions
What do your students need I think these students were able to grasp the cooking lesson very well.
next? How do you know? A short review next session may suffice for this topic. Students used
the words properly and were able to pronounce them well during their
presentations.
What did you learn about your I learned during this lesson to try and implement more implicit
glows and grows as a teacher? strategies so that the students are talking more and I am talking less
What can you do to work on during the introduction of the lesson. I can work on this by asking my
your areas needing growth? students more questions and having them come up with examples for
the vocabulary words instead of me giving them the examples right
away. Since I am providing students with Spanish translations I should
let them come up with the examples in order to have them think more
on their own.
