- Shots and Angles presentation
- Movie options
- Cameras

7. Length of Lesson (minutes): 52 minutes

STANDARDS
1. ACO 4.1 Devise communication strategies to promote individual account-
ability and team success.
2. ACO 4.2 Use effective oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills to
facilitate positive interactions.
3. ACO 7.2 Apply practices to maintain a safe and healthy work environment in
relation to careers in the Arts and Communications Pathway
4. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.5 Make strategic use of digital media (e.g.,
textual, graphical, audio, visual, and interactive elements) in presentations to
enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add inter-
est.

OBJECTIVES
1. ACO 4.1
Students will be able to describe and discuss the different camera shots and
angles in teams.
2. ACO 4.2
Students will be able to work together to create examples of each of the thir-
teen camera shots and angles.
3. ACO 7.2
Students will be able to use camera technology in a safe and correct manner
to create examples of each of the camera shots and angles.
4. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.0-10.5
Students will be able to use digital media tools (cameras and computers) to
create a visual example of camera shots and angles learned.

CAMERA SHOTS AND ANGLES

INSTRUCTION
1. ANTICIPATORY SET (DO NOW) | 5 MINUTES
i. Pass out Camera Shots and Angles worksheet
ii. Students should fill in as many shot and angle descriptions as they can

(This activity will help students relate to the lesson objectives because they
can start to think about the camera shots and angles that will be covered
in the lesson.)

2. MAIN ACTIVITY (MINI-LESSON) | 20 MINUTES


i. 10 MIN: Camera shots and angles presentation
- As a class, review each of the thirteen camera shots and angles
- Go over descriptions of each shot and angles
- Provide photo examples of each shot and angle
ii. 10 MIN: Camera shots and angles practice
- Students watch a movie clip
- Students describe camera shots and angles they see in the clip

3. GUIDED PRACTICE | 20 MINUTES


i. 20 MIN: Camera Shot and Angle photos
- Students work in teams of 2-3 people
- Students take photos: minimum 13 photos (one for each shot and angle)
- Photos taken will be used for stage II of the video production unit

4. ASSESSMENT
i. ACO 4.1
a. ASSESSMENT: Completion of camera shots and angles worksheet,
movie notes and collaboration on photo guided practice.
ii. ACO 4.2
a. ASSESSMENT: Completion of photo guided practice
- Students provide examples of each of the 13 camera shots and
angles
- Photos provide accurate representations of each shot & angle
iii. ACO 7.2
a. ASSESSMENT: Completion of photo guided practice
- Students provide examples of each of the camera shots & angles
- Photos provide accurate representations of each shot and angle
iv. CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.0-10.5
a. ASSESSMENT: Completion of photo guided practice
- Students provide examples of each of the camera shots & angles
- Photos provide accurate representations of each shot and angle

5. REFLECTION | 5 TO 7 MINUTES

At the end of class, we will spend five minutes doing a recap/summary of


the major objectives met and content learned. The review will include quick
descriptions of each of the camera shots and angles covered.

ACCOMMODATIONS
1. Special Needs (includes Gifted & Talented)
Special education students will be placed in teams with gifted and talented
students so students of different academic levels can work together and help
each other complete the practice assignments. Special education students will
be able to receive assistance from more advanced students.

2. English as a Second Language (ESL)


ESL students will have the opportunity to work in groups with other English
speaking students.

3. Culture & Diversity (Socioeconomic Status, Race/ethnicity, LGTB)


Culture and diversity will be accounted for in this lesson because students of
all backgrounds and personal circumstances will have the opportunity to work
together and share ideas.
