History of the

University of
Alabamas Football
Team
The history of football at the
University of Alabama dates
back to when the team first
started in 1892. They play in
the Southeastern Conference,
and have won their conference
26 times since its inception.
The Crimson Tide has won 16
national championship titles.
Their mascot is an elephant
known as Big Al (see right). Two
of the greatest coaches in the
history of college football, Bear
Bryant and Nick Saban,
coached at Alabama.
