Binaural Beats

Presentation
1. How sound works.
- Sound is caused by a source emitting energy in the form of
vibrations.

Q. These vibrations/ Differences in atmospheric pressure are known

as what?
A. Compressions and Rarefractions.

2. How our ears accept these vibrations.

- First weve got the visible outer ear, which acts as a funnel for incoming
sound, channeling it into the middle ear which houses the actual ear
drum. This incoming sound causes the ear drum to vibrate in the same
consistency as the atmospheric vibrations. This might sound a little
redundant but it has to be worded as such in order for you to easily
comprehend the direct correlations between this movement.

3. Which brings us to how our brains interprets sound.

We interpret sound through the inner ear which is composed of two
parts.
- The Cochlea which is used for hearing
- The Vestibular System which is used for balance.

Being the audio ppl we are we will only be covering the Cochlea which is a
complex chamber spiraled behind the ear drum that is filled with fluid and
lined with sensory receptors that resemble tiny hairs. The movement of the
ear drum causes the fluid/hairs which are directly attached to the auditory
nerve to rock back and forth, sending electrical impulses or Neurons
straight to the brain to be decoded into what we know as sound.
! With that being said let me state that at the root of all our thoughts,
emotions and behaviors is the communication between neurons within our
brains. Brainwaves are produced by synchronized electrical pulses from
masses of neurons communicating with each other.

Now that weve got our cycle 1 sound review in we can move on to the real
topic of this presentation. Binaural Beats.

Q. What are Binaural Beats?

A. A binaural beat is an auditory illusion perceived by the brain when
two different pure-tone sine waves are presented to a listener
dichotically (one through each ear).
* both frequencies must be lower than 1500 Hz, with less than a 40 Hz
difference between them.
This is also known as a form of an Auditory Brainstem Response.

Say we feed a 200 Hz tone to the right ear and a 210 Hz tone to the left
ear. The difference, which is 10 Hz, gets averaged inside your brain
through a process called brain entrainment. This is to say that 10 Hz is
the Binaural Beat. You might also hear it called the Frequency Follow
Response, when the brainwaves synchronize to the pulse being
interpreted .

Given the information you just received think about how these low
frequency pulses correlate to brainwaves.

4. Different Brain Waves:

Delta when there is unconsciousness, deep sleep or catalepsy, emitting

between 0.1 and 4 cycles per second.

Theta more or less 4 to 7 pulses, it is a state of somnolence (drowsiness)

with reduced consciousness.

Alpha when we are in a state of physical and mental relaxation, although

aware of what is happening around us, its frequency is approximately
around 7 to 13 pulses per second.
Beta emitted when we are consciously alert, we feel agitated, tense, or
afraid. These frequencies range from 13 to 60 pulses per second in the
Hertz scale.

Gamma which is a combination of all brainwaves, explaining why it is the

highest frequency at 27-100 Hz.

So we now know that the synchronization of these waves can alter the
brain in positive ways enhancing concentration, memory, motor response,
and much more. We can also alter it in negative ways. If you entrain your
brain to follow frequencies that you already have an abundance of, the
result can vary from mood swings to intrusive visualizations to such
extremes as vomiting due to the disorientation of the brain.

I have here scientific studies showing the potential of gamma inducing

sessions. This information only shows the potential of Gamma brain
entrainment for higher consciousness. On the other end of the spectrum,
Delta brainwave entrainment could lead to consciousness mimicked within
unconsciousness AKA Luci Dreaming. Delta Brainwave entrainment is
almost so vastly unbound that its potential is essentially determined by the
length of your imagination.

positive effects)
