through email address that has been informed.

Terms & Conditions for Innovation Competition

1. This competition is open to all researchers in institute of higher learning/institutions

and equivalent in Malaysia.

2. Only academician is allowed to lead for each product / invention / innovation.

3. The product / invention / innovation submitted must be at least at proof of concept

(POC) stage embarking towards pilot scale prototype stage which is market driven.

4. Area of research:

5. In general, the assessment of the invention will be based on the following criteria:-

Novelty & Inventiveness

Clear/remarkable impact to all 4 quadrants of the quadruple helix
Commercial potential & marketability

6. Final date of submission of application is on 23rd March 2017 (Thursday)

7. Only selected inventions will be invited to the final round of the competition which
will be held from 7th 9th April 2017 at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP),
Perak.

8. Announcement of the finalist will be announced results will be done through phone
and email.

9. All finalist needs to exhibit their product / invention / innovation at the Exhibition
Area.

10. The pitching session will be held during the competition as part of the assessment
process. A representative from each team have to do a presentation in front of a
group of assessors.

11. Each presenter will be given 10 minutes of pitching and 5 minutes for the question
and answer session from the assessors.

12. The winning prize shall be as follows:

 1st Place URIF Grant up to RM 50,000
2nd Place URIF Grant up to RM 40,000
3rd Place - URIF Grant up to RM 30,000
3 consolation prizes URIF Grant up to RM20,000

13. Prizes also will be given to the following winners:

- Best Exhibition Booth:

- 1st Place RM500
- 2nd Place RM400
- 3rd Place RM300

- Best Presenter:
- 1st Place RM500
- 2nd Place RM400
- 3rd Place RM300

14. The University Research Fund (URIF) is provided to the winners on the condition that
they need to collaborate with UTP and use the winning grant to up-scale the current
project towards commercialization. The collaboration can be in form of but not
limited to:

Up-scaling the lab prototype

Testing and data verification
Field trials
Market assessment and evaluation

15. The competition will be evaluated by a panel that have been selected and appoint
by the organizer. All decisions made by the judges and organizer is final. Further
queries and appeals shall not be entertained.

16. The organizing committe reserves the right,at any time,to add,change or modify any
aspect of the Competition without prior notice to the participating teams. The
organizing committe reserves the right to disqualify,terminate or suspend any
participating teams should the team be found ineligible or if any fraud is detected.
